1 lb. unsalted butter, softened
3 cups granulated sugar
1 cup unsulphured molasses
3 large eggs
8 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 Tablespoons baking soda
1-1/2 Tablespoons ground ginger
1 Tablespoon ground cloves
1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
Sugar to roll cookies in
Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.
In a very large bowl, cream butter.
Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
Beat in molasses.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Stir dry ingredients into butter mixture and blend well.
Roll into 1-1/2 inch balls and roll in sugar.
Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 13-15 minutes.
Yields: approximately 6 dozen
